Chinese New Year....the Year of the Dragon!

Hey ya'll!  It's almost Friday!  I have had the best week! I went back to sub at my old school that I taught at for two years this week!  It was SO awesome to be back there and to see all of my former students and teacher friends!  So many of my students have just grown up this school year!  I loved getting sweet little hugs from all of the students--even kiddos that I never had! They are so funny, they remembered my pets and listened to me tell stories about my furry babies.  Everywhere I went in the halls I'd hear kiddos say "Look!  There she is, it's Ms. Newberry!"  Some of my former firsties asked me if I had retired!  LOL!  To cute!

Now...let's talk about Chinese New Year!  Chinese New Year falls on January 23, and it's the year of the dragon.  Here are my favorite picks from Pinterest to celebrate with your students!

Creating these hats from Shave Ice and Gelato  are a must!  They are super cute!

I love the idea of measuring "noodles" (different sizes of yarn) from Learning With Mrs. Parker!  What a great way to tie math into a fun celebration!

These thumbprint lanterns from Let's Go Fly a Kite are precious!

I love this art idea from Share and Remember.  There are several ideas here!

These lanterns from Use Your Coloured Pencils would be cute hanging in the hall.

A dragon dance is such a fun and creative idea!  Of course a celebration wouldn't be complete without some yummy recipes!  I also bring fortune cookies!

Here are some ideas from TPT!

Fortune Cookie Creation Station from KB Konnected.

Learning Chinese numbers 1-10 from Teacher Tam.  She also has a free download for making a paper lantern and math activities for Chinese New Year.  Click {here}.  What are your plans for celebrating Chinese New Year?
